Holdem Manager and Windows 7

There’s been a good amount of concern among poker players thinking about upgrading to Windows 7. Any time you upgrade an operating system, you always have a concern that things might not work as smoothly as they did with your old set up.

With poker room clients, the risk generally isn’t very high. They’re usually working months in advance and don’t require a ton of local resources to operate. That’s why Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, Bodog, Ultimate Bet and the rest of the major online poker rooms haven’t had any real issues with the Windows 7 switch. Extensive evidence suggests no problems for any poker software package post transition to W7.

With some 3rd party applications such as HEM, the transition brings with it more risks. HEM is an intense application that draws on a variety of local resources, and many observers expressed concern that HEM and similar database programs might have issues with the new platform.

It appears those fears are unfounded. With several months passed since the beta release of W7 and a few weeks since the official release, there have been almost no reports of issues with Holdem manager for users running Windows 7.
